Unravel Our History

The Twisted String was founded in 2014 by husband and wife, Rees and Kelly Regier. Originally opened in Granger, IN as Steam Couture, a steam punk themed women's boutique, the shop moved and re-branded as The Twisted String in 2015 and quickly became one of the most highly recognized boutiques in Michiana. Showcasing both edgy and boho clothing styles inside it's award-worthy restored interior, this shop is a destination you'll want to visit over and over. The Twisted String's well-themed and authentic decor will appeal to those who are bored of retail chains and cookie-cutter retail. Themed after a textile mill from the late 1800's the Regier's were intentional in celebrating the local history of the area's Singer Sewing Machine Factory, an iconically old building which can be seen in the background of some of their styled shoots.

Highly committed to customer satisfaction and offering unique pieces, Rees and Kelly go out of their way to make sure you walk out happy. Rees is the contractor and designer, and Kelly is a Certified Stylist (and assistant to Rees's frequent design shenanigans). They are often described by locals as the Chip and Joanna Gaines of fashion retail and after a visit to their store you'll understand why! Stick around long enough and you're likely to see their children, Preston and Diana, as their shop truly is a hometown, American "family business." Rees and Kelly want thank you for supporting local business and look forward to helping you reach your true fashion potential in a unique environment.
